Welcome to Adult Decision Making 101!
As you know, Jason and I were fortunate enough to experience, for a fleeting moment, the awesomeness of GDKP in WoW on Kilrogg. The premise was quite simple: use actual in-game currency to auction off loot. Members of the raiding party can demonstrate how much they want a loot item by bidding on it. When the item cost is 'too much', the loser essentially gets paid (when the pot is split at the end) in currency s/he can use at the auction house while the winner gets the item leaving both parties feeling remarkably satisfied.
Question: What is something worth?
Answer:
Exactly what someone is willing and able to pay for it.
We are going to play with this a bit.
Use this time to make as much money as you can before our RL GDKP raid starts on January 1st, 2014. Just like raiding, you have to make sure you are prepared and that costs time and money. In game, you have to equip the right gear, enchant it, repair it, and have enough buff food, pots, and elixirs available to do your job well. If you are a "good player", you'll even have the enchantment for any items you hope will drop for you to bid on. Sometimes you will have your sights set on something no one else wants and it will be easy to obtain, but other times you will find yourself in a bidding war with someone who simply has more resources than you.
We ran several raids a week. Some raids were gear farming while others were for progression. Technically, the first raid is always progression. We go until we get stuck and then we beat our heads against that boss/obstacle for a while until we call it a day, split the pot, and plan when we'll come back to try again.
Our first boss is T1D and will be considered defeated when we get A1Cs under 9.
Now, we are forming our PUG, farming some gear, brewing some consumables, and coming up with our plan!
GAMBATTE!
